Operation Notes
Operation Instructions:
  1. Before using the die to cut external threads, prepare the correct bar diameter, tap wrench, and cutting lubricant.

  2. Accurate measurement of the bar diameter is critical: it must not exceed the nominal diameter of the target thread. The bar diameter should be 0.05–0.15 mm smaller than the nominal diameter. An oversized bar will cause difficult cutting and damage to the die, while a slightly smaller diameter ensures sufficient thread height during cutting.

  3. The end of the bar should have a 1×45° chamfer. Avoid excessive chamfering, as it will prevent the die from engaging properly.

  4. Align the cutting cone of the die with the bar, keeping them coaxial. Rotate the die clockwise to cut into the bar, then reverse it by 1/4 to 1/2 turn periodically to clear chips from the die holes.

  5. Apply appropriate cutting lubricant to the die’s cutting edges during threading. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the desired thread length is achieved.

Thread Repair:
To repair a rusted or damaged thread, first confirm the thread size accurately: use a caliper to measure the thread diameter and a thread gauge to measure the pitch. Select a tap or die of the same matching size. If using the reverse-thread method for repair, ensure the repaired thread does not cross-thread.
